How to use Sonos as your Mac's speakers
AirPlay works with some Sonos speakers, but it lags and can't keep your Mac's own speakers in sync. PC2Sonos streams everything your Mac plays to any Sonos speaker and delays your Mac speakers to match.
Windows 10 or newer, macOS 12 or newer. No account needed.
How it works on a Mac
PC2Sonos uses BlackHole, a free, open-source virtual audio device. While PC2Sonos runs, BlackHole is your Mac's output, so everything you play goes into it. PC2Sonos reads it, streams it to your Sonos speakers, and plays a delayed copy to your Mac's own speakers or headphones. When you quit PC2Sonos from the menu bar, your previous output comes back.
Why not just use AirPlay?
AirPlay only works with AirPlay-capable Sonos models, and your Mac's speakers still play ahead of Sonos. PC2Sonos works with any Sonos speaker on your network and keeps your Mac speakers in step with them.
Why does it ask for Microphone access?
macOS treats reading from any virtual audio device as microphone access, so the microphone indicator stays on while PC2Sonos runs. That's the same for every Mac app that routes system audio, such as Loopback or Audio Hijack. BlackHole only ever carries your Mac's own audio, never your room or your voice.
