How to use Sonos as your computer's speakers
Sonos has no setting for "be my computer's speakers". The Sonos app plays music services, not your computer's own sound. PC2Sonos fills that gap: whatever your Windows PC or Mac plays goes to the Sonos speakers you pick.
Windows 10 or newer, macOS 12 or newer. No account needed.
What you can play
Everything your computer makes a sound with: a browser tab, Spotify or Apple Music on the desktop, games, video calls, system sounds. You can also stream just the apps you choose on Windows 10 21H2 or newer, so notification sounds stay on your PC.
Setup in three steps
- Install PC2Sonos. The Windows installer adds the free VB-Audio Virtual Cable. The Mac app uses the free BlackHole driver.
- Turn on your speakers. The dashboard opens in your browser and lists every Sonos on your network. Turn on the ones you want, each with its own volume.
- Play something. That's it. PC2Sonos starts by itself at login from then on.
Sonos only, or Sonos plus your desk speakers
If Sonos is your only speaker, leave your PC speakers off. If you want both, PC2Sonos delays your desk speakers or headphones to match Sonos, so the two don't echo. You can pick more than one PC output, and each gets its own volume slider.
Volume control
While PC2Sonos runs, your keyboard's volume keys control the virtual driver, so volume lives on the dashboard. Each Sonos has its own slider, and one "scale everything" slider turns every speaker up or down together. There's also a bass, mid and treble EQ and a boost for quiet PC speakers.
A heads-up about video
Sonos plays a second or two behind any source, and nothing can remove that. Music, podcasts and background audio are fine. For watching video on the computer screen, sound through Sonos will trail the picture.
